Questioning Colour

What colours do my eyes see?
Questioned the man.
Am I steadfast in black and white
Or should I fall for your life
In reds, pinks, oranges
She calls out to him
Hands him roses in a kaleidoscope of rays
In open and honest movements
They dance in her sleep.
Behind heavy, swollen, eyelids
Gliding over the greys.

Fondling the shapes and spots in the haze
Humming for mercy
As bright white hunts for the day.
Silk ties over eyes to shut out the noise
Heightens the senses
Calling for calm and warmth
I’m looking for green, I’m glowing up for more
But it’s the violet we’re always searching for.

In dreams we spin
Though lands of time
We look to others to fill us in
To make this world and help us rhyme.
With space transported she finds some sweet yellow
He hands her permission to function under her own spell
She cannot see what he sees of her.
Just questioning colour and wanting more.
In blue she hopes to whisper, what thoughts lay in her head.
But his indigo shines brightly and he senses the signs before she can tell.

And what of red, its fire burns in her soul.
It drives her deeply to the ground
On an open track, travelling towards nowhere known
Vastness overwhelms, it is in endless supply.
If you’re not moving forward, are you going to die?
Some see the threat but he sees her spirit
In making things happen, in living for life, no directions, only spins.

Finally in darkness, it’s white that shines through.
It is turning through circles, it’s dancing its hue.
It sparkles on the waters, the canals, the light blue
Like a river of diamonds, beauty is all she knew.
Over in a second as he rouses her from her daze.
Light spots weave spherically around corners
A breath dives through the nostrils, a hand holds her as she lays
In wriggling and stretching he hoped she found a way out of malaise
Conscious eyes open and creeping dawn clusters around their romantic ways.

Still questioning the colours as time comes to bring its rainbow day.
